The nasty germs found at Coffee shop condiment counters.

Nasties are lurking in that little area where they keep the milk, cream, sugar and the napkins.

An investigation looked for germs in high-traffic areas at several Coffee shops in the New York area.

An investigator swabbed some of the surfaces customers touch rig

What was found:

One specimen, taken from a counter top at a coffee shop near Times Square, had the most bacteria.

Mr Tierno said it contained 'many E. coli' bacteria and a wide variety of organisms that indicates 'that fecal matter was placed on the counter at some point.'

About 50%

An investigator swabbed some of the surfaces customers touch right after they have been served their drink, namely the condiment counter top and  the self-serve  dispensers.   Specimens were then dispatched to Philip Tierno, director of Clinical Microbiology and Immunology at New York University Langone Medical Center. He said about half (50%) of the speciments had 'fecal organisms.'  GROSS!!    Hold My LId can help.
